What are the most common mistakes in a skincare routine with an LED mask?

Discover five common mistakes, why they impact your results, and how to get the most out of every LED session.

An LED mask is a valuable addition to your skincare routine. It can be a real gamechanger for your skin, but how you use it ultimately determines the result. By avoiding these common mistakes, you can get the most from every LED session.

Mistake 1: trying to use too much at once

A longer routine is not automatically a better routine. When you add several new products and sessions at the same time, it becomes difficult to determine which step is doing something for your skin.

Start with a simple foundation and introduce new products or beauty tools one at a time.

Mistake 2: not choosing a clear skin goal

First decide what you want to address. Are you focusing on fine lines, redness, pigmentation, dehydration or acne-related blemishes?

Each LED wavelength has a different role:

  • red light at 633 nanometres supports circulation and processes linked to collagen and elastin and helps reduce fine lines;
  • blue light at 463 nanometres targets acne-related blemishes and helps reduce excess oil;
  • amber light at 605 nanometres supports hydration and helps reduce redness and pigmentation;
  • near-infrared light at 830 nanometres supports the activation of processes that ultimately contribute to skin renewal;
  • deep near-infrared light at 1072 nanometres supports collagen, skin recovery and deeper circulation.

Do not choose the mode that sounds most popular. Choose the mode that matches what you want to improve.

Mistake 3: using an LED mask over skincare products

Use the Silk’n LED Face Mask Pro on clean, dry skin without make-up, dirt, serum or cream.

Apply your serum and moisturiser after the session. If you do use a product beforehand, check that it is suitable for use with LED light and has been fully absorbed.

A logical order is:

  • cleanse and dry your skin;
  • use the LED mask;
  • apply your serum and skincare afterwards.

Mistake 4: assuming longer is automatically better

The Silk’n LED Face Mask Pro is designed for ten-minute sessions and switches off automatically. A longer session is not necessary.

The mask can be used no more than once a day. Modes that include blue light should be used no more than three times a week.

Always follow the instructions for your specific device rather than extending the session length yourself.

Mistake 5: not being consistent enough

An LED mask works best when it is used consistently. According to the LED Face Mask Pro user information, initial results may become visible after around two weeks with at least three to four sessions per week. This varies from person to person.

A short routine you can maintain is therefore more valuable than a complicated routine you abandon after a week.

What is a simple skincare routine with LED?

A simple routine is: cleanse, use LED for ten minutes, then apply your serum and moisturiser. Choose one clear skin goal and follow the recommended mode and frequency.

Explore the seven targeted modes of the Silk’n LED Face Mask Pro and choose the session that matches your skin goal.
